Project Outline

Consara Construction Ltd were contracted by Blu-3 to undertake enabling works and the groundworks & substructure works up to ground level associated with the construction of the new data centre development. The development includes 5 buildings split across
two phase, a generator building, two data halls and two buildings housing ancillary plant.

Scope of Works

Breakout of temporary RC bases including crane bases & hoist bases.
Construction of piling mat 1000m2.
Installation of underground services & utilities including deep drainage and ducting.
Design and installation of all temporary works to facilitate up to 4m deep excavations including sheet piling, trench box systems and open cut techniques.
Construction of temporary haul road around site perimeter.
Construction of various substructure and peripheral elements of the development including RC foundations and capping beams.
Construction of the ground floor waterproof concrete slab, achieving the critically required FM2 flatness finish on the slab.

Key Challenges

» Entering the project at the second stage of the build brought challenges with inheriting elements of the build from previous contractors. This required diligent design co-ordination and remedial works/ protection works.
» Close co-ordination required with numerous contractors on site, including steel erection works & internal works contractors.

Key Facts

Over 2000m3 of RC concrete installed on the project including substructure and ground floor.
4000m2 of FM2 concrete flatness finish achieved.
Over 2000m3 box cut excavation between sheet piled walls for service corridor.
In excess of 7000m utility ducting installed.
