Project Outline

Consara Construction Ltd were contracted by Bennett Construction to complete various elements of work at the part new build extension, part refurbishment of the existing office building. This included partial demolition and structural alteration, groundworks, drainage, & RC works as part of the new two storey extension.

Scope of Works

Partial demolition of the existing structure including removal of roof lights, glazing, primary and secondary steel beams & columns, RC slabs, masonry walls and parapets and 2no stair cores. Oxy/ acet gas cutting of steel members.
Design and installation of temporary works elements to facilitate demolition works including demolition scaffold, temporary propping, needling & bracing.
Concrete breakout and service installation at basement and ground floor level, including drainage and ducting install.
Installation of attenuation tank drainage system.
RC works including construction of pile caps, slabs for building extension, steel reinforcement and concrete placement and finishing.
Piling attendance including construction of working platform and muck away.
Demolition of an existing sub station.

Key Challenges

» Extensive temporary works scheduling to facilitate demolition and maintain programme.
» Design management and development to ensure design interface compatibility between the new and existing structure.
» Restricted hours of noisy works, breakout out of concrete/ buried obstructions required close co-ordination with the client and local amenities including offices and a neighbouring primary school.
