Project Outline

Consara Construction Ltd were contracted by Blu-3 to complete the hard landscaping of the lower levels and external areas of the development at One Broadgate. This project was a joint venture between British Land and GIC, offering some of the highest quality, sustainable mixed-use space in London, including 545,000 sq ft of office workspace and roof terraces and 48,000 sq ft of retail and leisure space.

Scope of Works

RC Construction of fulcrum stairs, below ground concrete planters, numerous foundations & concrete hardstandings.
Installation of temporary works including trench box ground retention systems and formwork in heavily confined areas.
Reducing levels to formation and installation of various types of paving, allowing for build up in accordance with the relevant design.
Installation of all associated drainage and utilities, working in close proximity to live services.
Demolition of an existing sub station.
Installation of stone cladding and coping to planters.
Installation of street furniture including bollards, totems, terrazzo benching, mobile planters.
Extensive programme management and key stakeholder engagement to achieve phased handover and opening of areas to meet key project milestones.

Key Challenges

» Interface with other sub contractors working, ensuring segregation and safety of the workforce during the works.
» Interface with the public, ensuring segregation of site operations during the works & safety of the public during phased re-opening of footpaths.
» Management and storage of materials. Storage space was at a premium for the duration of the works due to the central location of the site. Just in time deliveries were required.
» Restricted hours of noisy works, breakout out of concrete/ buried obstructions required close co-ordination with the client and local business’.
